AI Visibility Leaderboard:
CRM Software
When a buyer asks ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity “what’s the best CRM for my sales team?” — does your brand appear? We ran 60 live AI queries across three engines and scored 20 CRM brands on AI Visibility (0–100).
ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity tell different stories.
The ranking order shifts meaningfully between engines. Brands optimizing only for ChatGPT are building a fragile position. The AI search market is multi-engine and diverging.
| Brand | ChatGPT | Gemini | Perplexity | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HubSpot CRM | 100.0 | 76.0 | 66.5 | 80.8 |
| Pipedrive | 52.5 | 65.0 | 51.0 | 56.2 |
| Zoho CRM | 75.5 | 39.0 | 37.0 | 50.5 |
| Salesforce | 70.0 | 41.5 | 22.0 | 44.5 |
| Freshsales | 52.0 | 2.5 | 18.0 | 24.2 |
| Copper CRM | 17.5 | 24.0 | 8.0 | 16.5 |
| Close CRM | 5.0 | 28.0 | 7.5 | 13.5 |
| Insightly | 40.0 | 0.0 | 0.0 | 13.3 |
| Bitrix24 | 12.5 | 8.0 | 9.0 | 9.8 |
| Nutshell CRM | 17.5 | 0.0 | 9.0 | 8.8 |
Highest per-engine score highlighted. Ranks 11–20 excluded from this table; per-engine breakdown for ranks 11–20 was not published in this edition.
Five structural patterns.
HubSpot is the #1 AI recommendation 6× more often than anyone else.
HubSpot appeared as the first recommendation in 43.3% of all queries. Pipedrive was next at 10%. Everyone else: 0–3.3%. HubSpot's combined score of 80.8 vs. Pipedrive's 56.2 is a structural gap, not noise. On ChatGPT specifically, HubSpot achieves a perfect 100.0.
Salesforce underperforms its market share in AI by a wide margin.
Salesforce holds 23% of the global CRM market (IDC 2025), yet ranks 4th on AI visibility with a score of 44.5. On Perplexity specifically, Salesforce scores just 22.0 — less than one-third of its ChatGPT score. A Salesforce prospect using Perplexity is 3× more likely to be directed to Pipedrive or Zoho first.
Freshsales has a severe single-engine cliff.
Freshsales scored 52.0 on ChatGPT (top-5 performance) but just 2.5 on Gemini and 18.0 on Perplexity. Despite being a $640M ARR public company, Google's own AI engine barely surfaces it. Single-engine dependence is fragile as the AI search market diversifies.
13 of 20 brands score below 15. Four score zero.
The median AI Visibility Score is 8.0. Apptivo, Vtiger CRM, SugarCRM, and Zendesk Sell — combined revenue base of billions — received zero mentions across all 60 queries. Monday Sales CRM, the CRM product of a $10B+ public company, appeared in 1 of 60 responses. This is not a product quality signal; it is an AI infrastructure signal.
The three engines reward different brands.
ChatGPT strongly favors Zoho CRM (100% mention rate on that engine alone). Gemini surfaces Close CRM far more prominently (28.0 vs. 5.0 on ChatGPT). Perplexity drops Salesforce to 35% mention rate — the steepest underperformance on any brand/engine pair. Brands built for one engine hold a fragile position.
Methodology
mention_rate — % of 60 responses where the brand was named at all. top3_rate— % where the brand appeared in the first 3 recommendations (detected via list position markers: “1.”, “#1”, etc.). top1_rate — % where the brand was the first recommendation. Final score = average of per-engine scores across all three engines.

- 2 repetitions per prompt/engine reduces variance but does not eliminate it; brands appearing ~50% of the time carry a ±5–10pt confidence band.
- No live Google AI Overviews tested (requires browser automation); Gemini results are API proxy only.
- Scope: B2B CRM for SMBs ($10–$200/seat/month). Enterprise-only CRMs not included.

Which CRM does ChatGPT recommend most often?
HubSpot CRM, by a significant margin. It was the first recommendation in 43.3% of all queries across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, and the only brand to achieve a perfect 100.0 score on ChatGPT (GPT-4o mini). Pipedrive was second at 10% top-1 rate. Every other brand scored 3.3% or less.
How is AI Visibility Score calculated?
Score = (mention_rate × 0.50) + (top3_rate × 0.30) + (top1_rate × 0.20), averaged across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. It weights position heavily: being recommended first is worth more than being mentioned anywhere.
Why does Salesforce rank 4th when it's the biggest CRM company?
Market share in revenue does not translate directly to AI citation share. AI systems weight entity clarity, structured data coverage, citation footprint in AI-indexed sources, and review/comparison article presence. Salesforce's Perplexity score (22.0) is particularly low — Perplexity retrieves live web sources, where Salesforce's comparison-article visibility may be weaker relative to HubSpot.
When was this data collected?
All 60 queries were run on 2026-06-10. GPT-4o mini uses parametric knowledge (training cutoff) and may not reflect very recent brand positioning changes. Perplexity Sonar uses live web retrieval and reflects current web sources.
