How to get a SaaS company into Claude answers in 5 steps
How to get a SaaS company into Claude answers: let Anthropic's crawlers read your site, say plainly on your own pages what you sell and who it is for, and get named on other sites that Claude reads. Then ask Claude your buyers' questions to see if it names you. Here are the five steps for getting cited by Claude, with the data behind each one.
Key takeaways
- For SaaS and tech prompts, 64% of what Claude cites is brand sites, and 14.9% is news and media. Your own site is the biggest lever.[1]
- Anthropic runs three crawlers. Blocking Claude-User or Claude-SearchBot may cut your visibility in Claude.[2]
- Claude and ChatGPT cite very different pages: 13% of domains overlap. Test Claude on its own.[1]

What does Claude cite when a buyer asks about SaaS?#
Mostly company sites. OtterlyAI counted 379,321 Claude citations on SaaS and tech prompts in June 2026. Brand sites got 64.0%, news and media 14.9%, and blogs 5.4%. Forums got 1.3% and social media 0.9%.[1] So Claude reads vendor pages first. A SaaS site that does not say clearly what it sells has little to quote.

One limit: OtterlyAI sells an AI visibility tool, and the study describes what Claude cited, not why it picked a page.[1] Treat it as a map, not a recipe.
How do you get your SaaS company into Claude answers?#
1. Let Claude's crawlers in
Anthropic uses ClaudeBot for training, Claude-User for live questions, and Claude-SearchBot for search quality. Anthropic says that blocking Claude-User or Claude-SearchBot “may reduce your site's visibility” in Claude search results.[2] Open your robots.txt and make sure neither is blocked. ClaudeBot is a separate choice about training.
2. Say what you sell, in plain words
Put one page on each question a buyer asks, such as “best CRM for a 10 person agency”. Answer it in the first sentence, name your category, price range and who the product is for. Claude can only repeat what your pages say. This step follows from the data in the chart, it is not something Anthropic documents.
3. Get named on other sites
Another study, from Muck Rack, found that 84% of 25 million links cited by ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude were earned media.[3] Ahrefs found that brand mentions across the web track AI visibility far more closely than backlinks do (0.66 against 0.22).[4] Aim for review sites, news pieces and “best of” lists in your category.
4. Check that Brave knows you
Anthropic does not name the search engine behind Claude. The evidence points to Brave, but Anthropic has never confirmed it.[5] Searching your company name on Brave Search takes one minute. If you are missing there, fix that. Details are in our post on how Claude web search works.
5. Test Claude, several times
Turn on web search in Claude and ask your buyers' questions in plain words. Ask each one at least five times and log whether you are named. Claude's answers change from run to run, so one test proves nothing.

Is getting into Claude the same as getting into ChatGPT?#
No. In the same OtterlyAI data, Claude and ChatGPT shared only 13% of cited domains, and 4.2% of cited pages.[1] Being in ChatGPT does not put you in Claude. Check each engine on its own, as in our guide to getting named in ChatGPT.

| Step | Where it works | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Open the crawlers | Your robots.txt | Documented by Anthropic |
| 2. Plain, answer first pages | Your own site (64% of SaaS citations) | Study data, cause not shown |
| 3. Get named elsewhere | News, reviews, lists | Muck Rack, Ahrefs |
| 4. Check Brave | Brave Search | Strong but unconfirmed |
| 5. Test Claude | Claude with web search on | Your own results |
FAQ
- How do I get my SaaS company recommended by Claude?
- Let Claude-User and Claude-SearchBot crawl your site, publish pages that answer your buyers' questions in the first sentence, and get named on news, review and list pages in your category. Then ask Claude the same questions several times and log whether you appear. Anthropic publishes no ranking rules.
- How do I get cited by Claude?
- Claude cites pages it can read and find. Allow Claude-User and Claude-SearchBot in robots.txt, put clear answers on your own pages (brand sites made up 64% of Claude's SaaS citations), and get named on other sites in your category. Then test Claude with web search on, several times.
- Why is my SaaS company not showing up in Claude?
- The usual causes are a blocked crawler, pages that do not say what you sell, and no mentions on other sites. Check robots.txt first, then ask Claude your buyers' questions to see who it names instead.
- Which search engine does Claude use?
- Anthropic does not say. Public evidence points to Brave Search, but Anthropic has never confirmed it.
- Should I block ClaudeBot?
- ClaudeBot collects content for training. Blocking it does not block live answers. Blocking Claude-User or Claude-SearchBot may reduce your visibility in Claude search.
